This Week's Topic: Global Warming

The National Resource Defense Council says the average temperature in the Arctic region is rising twice as fast as they are elsewhere in the country.

If you were the world's most innovative scientist, what device would you invent to curb global warming?

Since the ice caps are melting so rapidly from global warming, I would do what I could to stop people from damaging the ozone layer like make them ride bikes instead of drive. This could also help people to avoid obesity.

I would build a dome over the ice caps to protect them from the heat of the sun.

I would invent an ice making machine that is activated by the sun. The hotter it gets--the more ice it would produce.

I agree with Spencer. We need to stop the affects on the ozone layer. I would invent an underground transportation line that would go everywhere so people won't need to drive.

I think it would be cool to invent a jet pack that was powered by electricity. That way you could go where you needed to go whenever you needed to go. The electric powered jet pack would not have any emissions to harm the ozone layer.

How about a hover board like in the movie Back to the Future. Those would be cool for getting around town. Maybe they could be powered by some magnetic force.

I think the melting of the ice caps are inevitable and will cause global flooding. So we should focus on how to live in space. I would invent a way for us to live in a gigantic space station like in the movie WALL-E.

I think we should do everything we can so save the wild life on the polar ice caps. We should pass legislation to ban all aerosols and car emissions.

I agree with Shannon. We need to find more energy efficient ways to do things. I would spend my time trying to invent clean energy power to run everything--including my ipod. :-)

Global warming? What global warming? We just had two snow days due to snow and freezing temperatures. I say bring on the snow!
