Because the Texas Education Code charges districts and charter schools with testing students for dyslexia and providing instruction to those diagnosed with it, Region 9 Education Service Center offers support to help meet responsibilities in complying with the TEC. Through Region 9, districts can access information about dyslexia; receive technical assistance in formulating and implementing testing and instructional programs; and set up campus on-site professional development opportunities. Districts are also charged with providing a parent education program on dyslexia, and Region 9 offers assistance with meeting that requirement.
